Speech
Our Events:
Students speak about societal issues such as climate change, systemic inequality, and the impact of technology, using extensive research to build arguments in a causes-harms-solutions or three-pronged structure. This event challenges competitors to persuade their audience of their chosen topic's relevance, with clarity and purpose, enabling them to discuss matters they care about and build life-long skills relating to research, public-speaking, and advocacy.
Competitors develop the ability to analyze and discuss current events on the spot. Whether it’s politics, economics, or cultural shifts, they build their ability to research quickly, structure arguments under pressure, and speak with confidence. Above all, students learn to think critically and adapt their speaking style to different audiences, ensuring their arguments are compelling and well-supported.
This event is all about bringing already-existing stories to life through performance. Competitors pick a piece of published film or literature and step into the minds of their characters, working on blocking, voice modulation, and emotional depth to make sure their delivery resonates. The material often explores complex or deeply personal themes, making each performance both challenging and rewarding. Interpretation events are all about ensuring each moment feels authentic and leaves a lasting impact on the audience.
