The Puget Sound's premier speech & debate camp

Speech:

• Speak with confidence to an audience

• Persuasively develop and present a point

• Write a prepared speech, perform an interpretive script, and give impromptu speeches from a prompt

• Develop strong interpersonal connections

• Learn and practice qualities of a good speech: argumentation, concision and clarity, persuasive elements, eye contact, posture, pace, and volume

At the end of the week, students will write or choose their own speech and present it!

Debate:

• Create structured arguments

• Listen to opposing sides and refute arguments with poise

• See both sides of an issue

• Conduct research & use evidence effectively

• Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of positions

• Express thoughts clearly

• Adapt to a variety of audiences

At the end of the week, students will debate each other in a mini-tournament against their peers!
